EM Normandie & Cité Numérique in Le Havre: a new 360° architectural beacon
It’s now official: the consortium formed between SOGEA Nord-Ouest and architects Groupe 6 and Pierre Champenois…
… was commissioned on Thursday 30 March, during the Extraordinary General Meeting of the CODAH Board, to build the future premises of both EM Normandie and La Cité Numérique. This decision was based on the work of a panel involving all financing bodies for this dual venture: CODAH, Région Normandie, CCI Seine Estuaire, and Département de Seine-Maritime.
The project illustrates a desire to get students, academics and entrepreneurs to meet and exchange, to allow the emergence of an ecosystem favourable to the development of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and the Digital Economy.
Located on quai Frissard, this architectural beacon is a 360° project, right in the heart of the future Le Havre Scientific, Maritime & Port Campus. It extends over 12,700 m² (including 9,100 m² for EM Normandie and 3,600 m² for La Cité Numérique). Opening on to the High Seas, the city, the quays, the marina and the railway station, it will contribute to the attractiveness of the city and Normandy as a whole. Construction work will begin in the Autumn of 2017, and is due to be completed by Spring 2019.
A 3.0 Social & Digital Campus for EM Normandie
This new building meets the needs of EM Normandie which has reached the maximum capacity of its existing Le Havre premises, with their 1,300 students as there has been a continuous increase in the size of cohorts, by some 45% over 5 years. Planned to host 1,700 students by 2020, the new site is a key element in the growth strategy, an evidence of EM Normandie’s ambitions and Grande Ecole status.
The project is funded by CCI Seine Estuaire for € 8.5 M€, CODAH and the Région Normandie for €4 M respectively.
